Fuck the American Dream, I Want a Bite of Granny’s Ulster Fry, portrays a traditional Irish breakfast made as an offering to those before us. This work discusses the loss of heritage, tradition, culture, and the impacts of immigrating to the United States to chase the “American Dream”. This piece questions how people connect with their ancestors and culture through myths, art, food, dance, folklore, music, literature, etc. With a search on whether or not society can exist without culture. There is an emphasis on preserving these traditions passed down from generations, so this Ulster Fry was created as an offering to those before us and the legacy they leave behind.
